Meet the bride:
Brenda was born in Seattle,
WA on July 9, 1976. At the age of 13, Brenda received her
fateful first letter from a girl who lived in Milwaukee, Wisconsin named Ann.... They discovered they had many
things in common and it became the beginning of a life long friendship! While growing up, Brenda enjoyed reading,
dancing, and creating on stage in school plays, in her high school literary magazine, and through other artistic
ventures. In high school, Brenda formed many important friendships, with a pack of boys (Dan, Jayson, Mark, Bill, and
Vic) and also enjoyed becoming "sisters" with her friend Toni. In 1994 Brenda graduated from Sammamish High School and
moved to Portland, Oregon to attend Reed College and persue a B.A. in Religious studies, with a focus on Chinese and
Japanese religions.
In college Brenda enjoyed taking jitterbug dance classes with her friend Lara, drinking lattes at the Reed College
Coffee Shop, and participating in some theatrical events. She also became interested in the SCA, and learned how to
make period costumes. In addition, Brenda became involved in the modern dance department, which culminated in the
performance of a piece she had coreographed and designed at the Reed Dance Concert. All good things must end, however,
and with her completion of a thesis, entitled "The Forgotten Buddhists: Chinese Women Resisting Acculturation in
California 1853-1973", Brenda graduated in May of 1998.
In 1998 Brenda moved to Colorado to attend graduate school at the University of Colorado at Boulder, to get a masters
degree in religious studies. In Colorado she enjoyed the rigors of graduate study, and was happy to get to know her fellow
graduate students, including Andrea. In the summer of 2000, on a fateful day on June 5th, Brenda attended the first day of
a Japanese language class...

Meet the groom:
Justin was born in Boulder, Colorado on September 29, 1978. In elementary school Justin met Brian, who was to
become one of his best friends. Once Justin met Brian and became friends with him, he was adopted by Brian's entire
family. Justin went to high school at Fairview, in Boulder, and because he hung out at Brian's house every day after

computers and outdoor activities such as white water rafting, and backpacking with his father.
In 1997 Justin graduated from high school and started attending the University of Colorado at Boulder full time. During
college, Justin developed a passion for travel, and began traveling all over the world, starting with a trip to Australia
to see his high school friend Elizabeth. Justin had a great time scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef and in the Coral
Sea. In the fall of 1998, he participated in the Semester at Sea program and sailed around the world visiting countries
while taking classes on the ship. Highlights of the trip included visiting the Great Wall of China, Saigon, Taj Mahal,
Jerusalem, Rome, and Marrakech. Later, Justin continued his travels with a trip to Europe, visiting France, Amsterdam,
Switzerland, and Germany. For Spring Break, Justin and Craig went on a trip to England and Wales, during which they got
to enjoy the local hard ciders and tromping through the countryside.
During the summer of 2000, Justin and his friend Aaron decided to take Japanese together, with unexpected results...
